Fab9 Goldseries ND2 Clutch/Flywheel System

NOW OEM DUAL MASS COMPATIBLE for the ND2 Miata!

This gold series, steel backed Kevlar disc clutch offers near factory pedal feel with the characteristics of a powerful torque taming material and pressure plate. This setup is great for street and track use due to the material technology and completely custom flywheel. The optional 12lb flywheel is ready for the task of abuse with it's replicable friction disc. No more resurfacing or replacing the flywheel itself.

BREAK IN: Stage 1: 100 MILES! That's right, you can basically take this clutch to the track or dyno on day 1. Unlike our Kevlar Stage 2, the Stage 1 is an organic hybrid clutch that doesn't require the bedding you'll need for the friction surface to mate with the flywheel/pressure plate.

BREAK IN: Stage 2: Kevlar is slow wearing material. This makes it great for longevity but your break-in period is a bit longer. Contrary to popular belief that you should drive it like a baby, we’d like you to be relatively swift with engagement and disengagement on the clutch pedal. Think of it as trying to reduce the amount of time the clutch spends slipping before it grabs. Don’t drop the pedal like an animal, but don’t drag it out like you’re tying not to spill a glass of wine on your passenger seat. We recommend 800 miles minimal and NOT all on the freeway. 800 miles of normal, rowing through gears is best.

Enjoy! – from the Fab9 Team

    Stage 1: perfect OEM+ clutch

Posted by Matthew McBee on Mar 11th 2025

I was looking for an OEM+ clutch option that would allow be to detain the stock dual-mass flywheel (for transmission protection reasons). This GoldSeries clutch has been perfect for my needs. It has more torque capacity than the stock clutch but feels exactly like OEM after it breaks in.

My old clutch failed shortly before my first race events of the season, leaving me with insufficient time to complete the break-in process for the Stage-2 Kevlar clutch disc. Bryan put together this Stage-1 organic disc solution for me and shipped it out right away. I got it installed in time to make both events. This is probably the best customer service I've ever received from any vendor ever; simply exceptional.

I installed the clutch on Friday and raced the car (autocross) on Saturday and Sunday. The first thing I noticed was the increase in clamping pressure. Launching as I normally did on the OEM clutch produced a huge amount of wheelspin. I had to dial my launch RPM down substantially as so much more power was going to the tires - the old clutch must have been slipping even before it failed. I also found that, on cold tires, I could spin the rear tires at will by being too abrupt on the throttle in second gear on corner exit. This is not something my car did before on the old clutch.

Overall I was looking for something a little stronger and more durable than the stock clutch while maintaining OEM feel and drivability. This clutch is exactly what I wanted and fills a big gap in the market for ND2 clutches.

I am exceptionally pleased with my purchase and in the service I received.

Call series, performance clutch and flywheel

Install went as well as a clutch install can go on a Miata ND2.. I just finished the break-in and my assessment is that it’s a great upgrade from the Dual Mass Flywheel. The car feels 40% sportier with the reduced rotational mass of the DMF.
Engagement is not stock but it’s not on or off. Don’t ride or slip the clutch and be quick engaging and disengaging.

I was hesitant initially but I decided to take the plunge. I’m totally satisfied with the quality and the overall results.

    Thanks Fab9
