WHY KONI SPORT:
Rebound adjustable from the top of the shock: street-soft for the commute, cranked up for autocross or a track day. The car stays flat and composed through the turns, then dials right back to comfortable for the drive home.
The latest Koni Sport castings add height-adjustable spring perches with multiple positions, so ONE setup fits both soft top and RF. The extra rear perch position compensates for the RF's added rear weight — no sagging rear on the RF. Start with the top perch up front; in the rear, RF cars use the top perch and soft tops go one position down. Move the perches down from there for additional lowering.
Heads up — Koni's adjuster works opposite most brands: CLOCKWISE = softer, COUNTER-CLOCKWISE = stiffer. The shocks ship set to full soft. Before driving, back the adjuster roughly 1/8 turn off either end of the range; never run them jammed against full-soft or full-hard.
ADD THE PROGRESS SPORT SPRINGS (+$259):
Progress Technology Sport springs (Progress part 40.1134) drop the ND 1.3 inches in front and 1.0 inch in the rear, with rates raised to 180 lb/in front and 115 lb/in rear — a lower center of gravity and much flatter cornering without beating you up on the street. CNC cold-wound from certified high-tensile spring wire, shot-peened and preset, finished in metallic-gray powder coat. Made in the USA and covered by Progress's limited lifetime warranty. Combined with the Konis' perch positions, you can fine-tune the stance even further.
INSTALL NOTE: The Koni shock rod is 12mm and the factory bump-stop washer is 10mm — drill the stock washers out slightly during install.
FITMENT: 2016-2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata ND, soft top and RF. Also fits 2017+ Fiat 124 Spider (built on the ND chassis).
